The exhibition ‘Media of Our Times – The History of Radio and Television’ invites visitors on a journey through nearly a century of communication. Guests will explore reconstructed commercial and living spaces from the 1930s, 1950s, 1970s, and 1990s, discovering the devices that shaped everyday life. The exhibition highlights changes in the design of radio and television technology, as well as their social impact. A special focus is given to the “Solidarity” radio transmitters—symbols of resistance and the struggle for freedom of speech in 1981–1989. It is a story of technology that transformed how people connect and perceive the world.

As part of the permanent exhibition at the National Museum of Technology, dedicated to the history of radio technology, we focused on faithfully recreating the look and feel of commercial and residential interiors from the 1930s, 1950s, 1970s, and 1990s. The exhibition is enriched with graphic elements inspired directly by these eras, not just in typography, but in overall visual style, while ensuring everything remains clear and accessible to visitors.

The “Solidarity” radio transmitters are excellent example of ingenuity and courage in times of censorship, enabling the spread of independent information and sustaining the spirit of social resistance.
